Dr. Saks is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in oculoplastic disorders and surgery. He performs cosmetic and functional surgery of the eyelids, brow, and midface. Patients and clinicians from diverse specialties commonly refer patients to him because of his unique expertise. He is honored to have a strong referral network of happy patients.
Dr. Saks provides general ophthalmology services as well as performs such procedures as cosmetic eyelid and facial surgery, ptosis/drooping eyelid repair, blepharoplasty, entropion repair (eyelids that turn in), ectropion repair (eyelids that turn out), reconstructive and functional eyelid surgery, tear duct surgery and treatment of lacrimal system disorders. In addition, he performs eyelid tumor biopsies, removal, and reconstruction after Mohs surgery removal of skin cancers. He provides medical and surgical treatment of orbital disease, oculoplastic trauma surgery including orbital fracture repair and eyelid and canalicular laceration repair. Patients are also given Botox injections for both aesthetic rejuvenation and spasm disorders as well as cosmetic filler injections
After graduating with University Honors for being in the top 3% of his graduating class, summa cum laude, and highest distinction in General Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Saks attended medical school at the prestigious University of California at San Francisco. He earned his degree in ophthalmology at the University of Illinois at Chicago Eye Center, where he was also chief resident. Dr. Saks then went on to complete a fellowship sponsored by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and is currently one of the few physicians in the area who has the specific training and expertise to be included in that exclusive society.
Dr. Saks enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He likes travelling, skiing, and motorsports.
