A native of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Dr. Annam has undertaken his education and medical training throughout the United States. After completing a rigorous dual-degree program from the University of Pennsylvania, he spent time doing medical volunteer work in Ecuador. He subsequently earned his medical degree on a scholarship from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, then did his residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Afterwards, he finished his fellowship at the esteemed Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. As the sole fellow, Dr. Annam gained extensive experience performing cataract surgery as well as a range of glaucoma procedures including laser treatments, minimally-invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), and tube shunts. He also was responsible for the clinical and surgical supervision of residents at the Ann Arbor VA.
Dr. Annam is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as the American Glaucoma Society. He speaks English, Spanish, and Telugu. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, cooking, playing basketball, scuba diving, folding origami, building LEGO models, and exploring the city of Chicago.
